An APC uninterruptible power supply system provides stable power to servers, computers, and equipment, preventing hardware damage due to power outages and power restoration, as well as safeguarding against data loss.
The operating principle of an APC uninterruptible power supply system is straightforward: when there is a power interruption or fluctuations beyond the safe range, the system relies on backup power batteries to provide stable power to all connected servers, computers, and devices.

Here are some of the grid anomalies that APC uninterruptible power supply systems handle:

1. Power Outages: Complete interruption of power supply (no voltage output).
2. Voltage Sags: Grid voltage drops below standard voltage by 15%-20% for a few seconds.
3. Voltage Surges: Momentary grid voltage exceeding standard voltage by more than 10% for a few seconds.
4. Continuous Undervoltage: Prolonged low voltage.
5. Continuous Overvoltage: Prolonged high voltage.
6. Line Noise: Electrical interference on the grid.
7. Frequency Drift: Unstable generator causing deviations in grid frequency.
8. Switching Transients: Rapid changes in voltage due to switching operations.
9. Harmonics: Distorted waveforms.

There are three operating principles for uninterruptible power supply systems:

1. Standby (Offline) UPS: The system switches to battery power only when the grid fails.
2. Line-Interactive UPS: The system corrects voltage fluctuations while still using grid power, switching to battery only during outages.
3. Online (Double Conversion) UPS: The system continuously runs on battery power, providing seamless protection against grid anomalies.
